WEEK 11 : What Nobody Told Me About Being a Designer.

This week honestly felt like a reality check. When I first imagined working as a designer, I thought it would mostly be about creativity and making cool visuals. But working at the agency showed me that design is also about repetition, patience, and constantly improving the same idea again and again. A lot of my time went into creating videos for Evlon products and Barwa, where I had to keep refining concepts, making rough cuts, and then improving them step by step.

I worked on multiple video projects this week, from creating AI-generated images and converting them into product videos to making a rough headphone video and then turning it into a final version. I also completed videos for Rubera and Evlon, including a neckband video where I had to brainstorm ideas, take inspiration, and figure out how to present the product story in a simple but engaging way. It sounds exciting, but what nobody tells you is how much thinking and rethinking goes into even a short video.

One thing that really stood out to me was working without constant guidance. There were times when I had to figure things out on my own, whether it was ideating the video flow, choosing animations, or deciding how to make the content more engaging. I used different tools, references, and brainstorming methods to get clarity. It pushed me to trust my own decisions more, which was challenging but also helped me grow.

Another reality is revisions. A design is never “final” in one go. I had to go back, tweak visuals, improve storytelling, and sometimes even restart parts of the project. Along with that, I also worked on planning tasks for the upcoming content calendar, designing a visiting card concept, and preparing ideas for upcoming videos like chargers and power banks. Managing multiple tasks at once is something I didn’t expect to be this intense.

At the same time, I also explored new animation styles and practiced text animations to improve my skills. Even though it felt repetitive at times, I can see how this repetition is actually helping me get better and faster. I’m starting to understand how small details, like timing, transitions, and structure, make a big difference in the final output.

What this week really taught me is that design in the real world is not just about creativity, it’s about problem-solving, consistency, and adaptability. It’s about working with constraints, handling feedback, and still delivering something effective.

This experience has changed how I see design as a career, from something that is just creative to something that requires discipline, patience, and constant learning every single day.
